Hat-Cap

[WAVY]
Inspired by the ocean waves, Dada Corporation's cap, the WAVY features sophisticated curved sidelines. It's also supremely practical with its functional design which eliminates irritating contact of the ears with the side of the hat. Also, even though WAVY is a flex cap, it does not have spandex in sweatbands to give elasticity. Because of the uncomfortableness that comes from its tendency to return to its original length and the loss of elasticity as it comes in contact with sweat, Dada Corp. has decided not to use spandex, but decided to use FITMAX70, a self-created fiber with elasticity that gives the wearer a custom fit.

Did you know that there is a Korean company that manufactures over 45% of all the world's sports hats? The company, named Dada C&C, produces over 50 million hats each year and is one of the world's top suppliers to leading global brands.

Sports hats, usually described and known as "baseball caps," are pretty standardized in shape and form and distinguished only by their colors, logos and other cosmetic designs. Recently, however, I had a chance to try out a sports cap developed by Dada that uses a unique new design. Called the "Wavy", the new hat design basically forms a continuous curved line from the back of the cap to the brim as opposed to the familiar sports cap design that has a separate brim attached to the cap that sticks out at an angle. The innovative shape makes a lot of sense when you look at a picture of a Wavy cap.

The curved sideline improves both looks and function. The "wavy" brim-cap line (hence the name) makes a natural space where the ear can fit, allowing the hat to fit on the head unobstructed by the ears. While sports caps are designed to rest on the head just above the ears, everyone's heads are different. The wavy line means the cap can sit snugly on the head without crimping down on the ears. It also keeps the tops of the ears from rubbing against the bottom of the crown of the cap.

Another feature I noticed is that the cap doesn't have the spandex in the sweatband that is usually found in other caps. The spandex band is usually there to give some flexibility to the crown, but I always found it to lose its shape and function when it becomes worn and soiled. Any sweat that accumulates in the band also tends to stay there, making it very uncomfortable. Instead, Dada uses a new fiber named FITMAX70 that gives a custom and comfortable fit.

The quality and comfort that I found in the Wavy hat left me curious about the other hats that Dada might offer. In addition to supplying brands all over the world, Dada is building a line of its own brands and fashion items. I found numerous different styles of fashion hats including military caps, hunting caps and other casual sports and fashion looks.

Dada C&C is one of the world's largest manufacturers of hats, knitwear and bags in the world. With exports of over $100 million per year, Dada's dominance of the global sports hat market is expanding each year. The company operates seven subsidiaries in five nations including Korea, Indonesia, Bangladesh, Vietnam and China, with a total of over 15,000 employees worldwide. The company holds 135 partners in Korea and 73 in the United States. The list of global companies that Dada supplies hats to includes the best-known names in the sports apparel and fashion world including Adidas, Reebok, Nike, Gap, FUBU, Perry Ellis America, and Tommy Hilfiger. Dada also produces the official headwear for every NBA, Major League, NFL and NHL team.
