SSENG Co., Ltd. is a specialized manufacturer of advanced and efficient water filtration systems. The company’s steady efforts in R&D since its establishment in 1999 have resulted over 100 patents registered or under registration in Korea and other countries, as well as two verifications of New Environmental Technology from the Korean government.
The company has also acquired eight national certificates, including the Excellent Product Certificate. Main products of the company are Gravity Flow Fiber (GFF) Filter and Pore Controllable Fiber (PCF) Filter. The filtering principle of GFF or PCF Filters is purifying the water through the narrowed gaps among fine fibers by pressurizing fibers on the surface of the strainer.
The backwash is performed through releasing fibers to enlarge gaps and then blowing air at the bottom to shake fiber sand, at the same time, supplying backwash water on the reverse direction to carry deposits during filtration to outside of the filter. The Gravity Flow Fiber (GFF) filter purifies the water using gravity with a difference of about 30-cm in the water level by making the fiber layer thinner.
When backwashing, the filtrate of a nearby filtration basin is supplied as the backwash water naturally by the upward current of backwash blowing air. Therefore it requires neither a filtration pump nor a backwash pump, making GFF filter’s operational cost the lowest in the world. The filter’s rectangular plate shape also makes the size the most compact in the world geometrically and so, its filtration area per unit filter volume is the highest in the world.
The DCOF drinking water purification process using direct filtration after coagulation reduces its volume and installation area to 1/30 of that of conventional precipitation/filtration methods. This revolutionary process can filter very turbid water over 300NTU to produce potable water without any pre-treatment.
In the Pore Controllable Fiber Filter (PCF), which means system (lift type), flexible fiber bundles surrounding around the strainer are pulled-up to the longitudinal direction to reduce its pore size, before the filtration is started. It is a precise and advanced fine fiber filter unit having backwash water with compressed air after releasing them.
Accordingly, it is called an automatic back washable cartridge filter. The PCF system’s efficiency is over 90% in activate sludge treated water filtration, and suspended solid is below 1.5mg/s§(average 0.8mg/s§ and below). With comparison of pressurizing sand filter, PCF is 1/5 in terms of volume, 1/10 in terms of weight (including filtering agent), and 2/3 in terms of price, and the amount of back-washing water required is around 3% of treated water with as short as 1~3minutes of backwashing time.
After the backwashing operation, it is automatically returned to the filtration process by the pre-set pressure value.
Sseng Co.’s filtration systems can be applied to such areas as the following: Enhancement discharged water quality filtration for water reuse; filtration for drinking water in mineral water fabrication company and water purification plant; pre filtration in the advanced treatment, membrane filtration; Filtration for cleanness in swimming pool, aquarium red, green water filtration in water intake sites and fish farms; and filtration for cooling water, circulation water, agricultural and industrial water. The systems have been installed more than 1,700 sites in Korea and abroad, including POSCO, Samsung Electronics, LG Chemical, Seoul National University, some Korean nuclear power plants and so forth.
