NeosemiTech is a specialized solar and LED ingot and wafer producer,
especially at GaAs, solar Si, and other compound semiconductors.
Thanks to its long-accumulated technology in the field, the maker was
appointed as an international developer for germanium solar wafer by Korea’s
Ministry of Knowledge Economy (MKE) in 2009.
In addition, sapphire wafers for LED applications come online this year as
well. The production capacity for Si ingots is now 200MW and 100MW for Si
wafers in its own plants. And at its 5th plant in Korea, 1GW-capacity is being
installed until 2012. To meet the rising demand, as part of its efforts, the maker
has started the construction of its 5th plant in the nation, which has a capacity of
1GW. Its silicon crystal ingot is a large cylindrical semiconductor for the photovoltaic industry. The ingot is cut
into 150, 165, and 200-micro meter slices to become solar Si wafers.
A solar cell uses a solar Si wafer as a substrate to convert sunshine into electricity. The average efficiency of the
company’s solar Si wafers ranges from 17~18% to produce electricity.
Currently, it is actively exporting its excellent products to the global market.
