As FTTx construction and installation becomes increasingly common and space comes at a premium, optical fiber cables are being required to be jammed into smaller areas that require easier handling and installation.
In addition, the rising demand for large-capacity and low-cost optical communication systems requires dense and flexible optical wiring, which is made possible by optical fibers that operate under small bending radius.
Bending-resistant fiber with a small bending radius has been developed to fill this need.
At 1550nm, the sensitive wavelength for the bending test and 5.5mm diameter bending, the tie-up fiber shows almost no bending loss and even exceeds the bending requirements of ITU-T recommendations.
