A wild ginseng on mudflats
Hamcho is a halophyte (salt plant) naturally absorbing salty minerals and growing on muddy seashores along the Korean south and west coastline. In Korea, we used to call it 'tungtungmadi' (slender glasswort), due to its shape. Hamcho has been known to contain various minerals, cellulose (dietary fiber), essential amino acids, saponins and others.
