Hankook National, a subcontractor of Hyundai Motor Company and Kia Motors succeeded in producing Polyurushiol that does not contain lacquer¡¯s allergy-causing ingredient. The Polyurushiol features lacquer¡¯s unique properties through biosynthesis of urushiol, a core physiological active ingredient extracted from lacquer.
Polyurushiol is being supplied to Korea¡¯s leading companies such as Kia Motors and Hanwha to be applied to diverse household items, including cars, floor coverings, furniture, and so forth. The effect of Polyurushiol includes the treatment of atopy (according to a thesis on the clinic test of Korea Journal of Dermatological Science), insect-proof quality (Chungnam National University in Korea) and antibacterial effect.
