Sometech has made massive investments in developing and mass-producing its own 3D laparoscopic system since 2006, and has involved in the commercializing process.
Unlike conventional open surgery using large abdominal incisions, laparoscopic surgery requires only a small incision
through trocar and operational tools, which leave minimal scars, thus making possible much shorter recovery time, improving quality of life and effectiveness.
For this reason, the laparoscopic system has recently emerged as one of the main surgical methods among doctors who are
seeking minimally invasive surgery that is more accurate and efficient than other conventional operation methods.
The existing 2-dimensional laparoscopic image has no sense of distance, which does not match between eyes and hands
when operating so it has less accuracy and depends on the doctor¡¯s skill and experience. However, 3-dimensional stereo Laparoscopic surgery can give clear images with an accurate sense of distance, which improves accuracy of the operation
so it is more effective and safer. Sometech also developed a high-resolution rod lens classified as full HD grade.
This full HD- grade rod lens maximizes stereo effect so it expresses more vivid and stereo images during operations.
Sometech¡¯s 3-dmensional laparoscopic system is in progess for KFDA certification.
