High silicon cast iron anodes are widely used for Impressed Current
Cathodec Protection(ICCP) and Electrolytic Pickling. Constructed with high
silicon cast iron as specified in ASTM A 518, the anodes contain iron with
approximately 15% silicon (Si) content for additional resistance to corrosion.
Woojin Inc. has developed a patented manufacturing method for high
silicon cast iron anodes that ensures a high degree of corrosion resistance
while overcoming the inherent weakness of the material. These anodes are
used for anticorrosion current from external power sources used to prevent
the degradation of underground installations. The anodes are also installed
in nitric acid electrolytic cells used in the cold rolling of stainless steel,
sending currents to remove the surface oxidation scales of the cold rolling plate.
With a monthly production capacity of 50 tons for electrolytic anodes and 20 tons for stainless steel pickling
anodes, Woojin¡¯s high silicon cast iron anodes dominate the Korean market with a 70% market share, and are
supplied to every stainless cold rolling plant in the nation, including POSCO. The company¡¯s overseas customers
include Qingdao Pohang Stainless Steel in China, and other companies in Asia and the Middle East.
