As an offshoot from the Optical Business Division of Samsung Electronics
in January 2006, IM Co., Ltd. has become a sole optical pick-up module (for
Blu-ray and DVD) manufacturer in Korea.
DVD Optical Pick-up from IM is an optical device that replays such data
recorded at optical disk as voice and video, by transposing electronic and
optical signals. Typically it plays a crucial role in converting information
from DVD players, home theater systems, camcorders, etc., into video. Bluray
Optical Pick-up is a device that plays back or records digital content in
Blu-ray Disc such as movies into information suitable for Full HD TV thus
performing a key role of Blu-ray player in playing video and voice.
As OECD countries are required to change their analog broadcasting systems to digital systems by 2010,
demand of Blu-ray Optical Pick-up, which realizes Full HD contents on Full HD TVs, will soar as a core product in
the digital broadcasting era. Digital TV requires much upgrading, including: high resolution of 1018i/p, 16:9 ratio
wide screen, sound quality of over 5.1 channels. The company is the first and the second provider respectively of
Blu-ray Pick-up and DVD Pick-up, in the world.
