SBN TECH has rapidly grown into one of Korea’s leading specialists in high-quality videophones that integrate multimedia communications over the broadband Internet.
The maker has drawn global attention by developing a built-in speech recognition solution, a communication system that allows hearing-impaired people to communicate effectively.
With the company’s all-in-one embedded IP video phone, “VPAD,” the user calls a number just like with a regular phone, and at the push of a button, the phone is linked to a caption relay station that then completes the call. The caption center uses speech-recognition technology to transcribe and display the conversation in real time on the phone’s video display, enabling hearing-impaired users to carry out a normal conversation. The video screen can also display the image of the caller in addition to the captions. “VPAD” is the world’s first speedrecognition real-time IP caption service that uses a video phone as the terminal.
Its applications also include residential video phone, video conferencing and telediagnosis & healthcare.
With such foreign approvals as FCC and CE, the manufacturer has exported its products mainly to North America.
Efforts are under way to diversify foreign markets into Europe, Japan and Latin America.
