Najeon Chilgi (mother-of-pearl lacquerware), one of Korea’s long-standing cultural tradition, was previously used to decorate furniture.
DesignChosun with 30-year-old expertise has recently unveiled gift items employing Najeon Chilgi. Especially, the company has sharply reduced the production cost by devising a way to mass-produce items while retaining the quality of hand-made goods.
Design Chosun re-interprets and designs traditional cultures and images of Korea, and manufactures cultural products which are suited for living necessaries. Especially, some small articles, such as a hand mirror of mother-ofpearl and a name card purse, have reproduced the technique of traditional lacquerware inlaid with mother-of-pearl (embroidery on the surface of a metal).
Using selected highquality motherof-pearl lacquerware, DesignChosun has focused on creating premium art crafts that can satisfy consumers in terms of functionality and aesthetic quality. Mother-of-pearl lacquerware business card cases, dey chains, letter openers and jewelry boxes are available.
