The manufacturing firm DMS, established in 1999 by engineers from LG Philips LCD, is a specialized manufacturer of TFT-LCD cleaning equipment. By developing the High-Density Cleaner for LCD panel manufacturing, the company has grown to become a world-class LCD equipment maker in the cleaning field, with a proud record of achieving more than 50% annual average growth rate for 10 consecutive years. The company’s accumulated sales revenue exceeded as much as 1 trillion won as of 2008.
In TFT-LCD manufacturing, cleaning of the glass is necessary before Chemical Vapor Deposition. and Sputter. In conventional manufacturing processes, the glass should be kept in a stocker for putting into the deposition equipment or sputter, following which it is cleaned in a cleaning bath and transferred to the stocker by a moving vehicle.
However, this procedure decreases the yield of the panel as dust can adhere to the glass during the transfer and waiting period.
DMS solved this problem completely by developing the High-Density Cleaner, which directly docks the glass with deposition equipment after the cleaning, eliminating transferring to and waiting in the stocker. Not only is it one-third smaller and uses a half less parts than competitors’ products, but HDC is also estimated to increase the yield by as much as 5%. DMS’s High-Density Cleaner has captured about 70% of the global HDC market share. The company enhanced its competitiveness by advancing into etching systems, ashing systems, and PR coating systems, in addition to its flagship product, High-Density Cleaner.
