Flatfishes from Jeju are very popular among consumers at home and abroad for their richness in taste and nutritional value. as they are cultivated in the exceptionally clean waters off the island.
Jejudo Marine Fish-Culture Co-Op, established in 1994, represents 250 members. The association is involved in quality control process of all aquaculture products raised in Jeju, including flatfishes.
First of all, Jejudo Marine Fish-Culture Co-Op feed flatfishes with fresh and high-quality fishmeal like horse mackerel, a mackerel known to produce tasty fishes. Moreover, it requires all large-scale flatfishes to undergo rigid safety examination.
Due to these endeavors, the nutritional quality of the Jeju flatfishes is considered to surpass that of wild flatfishes.
Recognized for their outstanding taste and quality, Jeju flatfishes have been selected as World-Class Products by Korea¡¯s Ministry of Knowledge Economy since 2005.
