Korea's Trendsetting Exhibitions for Housing Culture

Kyunghyang Housing Fair 2013, Korea¡¯s representative exhibition for the construction materials industry will be held this year, from February 22 to 26 in KINTEX, Goyang. As many as 100,000 exhibits of all kinds of building materials and housing appliances are going to be staged at the 61,836 square meters of exhibition space.

Organized by Kyung Hyang Housing and Kyung Hyang Housing Daily News, the fair is aimed at displaying and exchanging cutting-edge technology from companies at home and abroad as well as broadening the domestic market and attracting investment.

Kyunghyang Housing Fair, specialized in building materials & construction, is the biggest, has the longest history and is the most famous in the housing construction industry of Korea.

Since the fair was launched in 1986, it has been the top trade fair for Korea's building materials & construction industry, regularly attended by 700 participants and 180,000 visitors. It is regarded as the mecca of the year¡¯s latest products and technology. KH Fair is the most eagerly awaited for in the industry.

The exhibition venue will consist of building materials, home networking, construction equipment & tools, well-being furniture, home interior, and other halls. It will be the biggest event ever, presenting 100,000 excellent building materials and top-notch technology.

Last year¡¯s show, held on February 11~15, 2009 at COEX, the show attracted leading international and local suppliers of building materials from North America, Europe and Asia. A record 400 exhibitors and 120,000 visitors took part. Almost 90% of the exhibitors stated that they were satisfied with the show.

KH Fair will also makes ample business opportunities between participants and buyers and will offer wide range of information through the following specialized exhibitions.

Special Exhibition for Single Household: Single households are expected to increase from 25.3% in 2012 to 34.4% in 2035. The increase in single households is changing the construction market. There is a higher preference for small sized houses rather than mid-sized apartments. Efficient, multi-purpose furniture and 1-2 person electronic devices with premium functions but smaller in size have become popular. Thus, Kyunghyang Housing Fair will highlight the Single Household Lifestyle.

Special Exhibition on Modular Houses: Modular house were developed and are widely used across Japan and Europe. Up to 80%-90% of the house building such as the frame, wall, and roof are prefabricated by manufacturers and assembled on site. Owners can save money on construction as the construction period is short, and accurate design allows for energy efficiency and durability. Therefore, Kyunghyang Housing Fair will take a close look at the modular houses.

Special Exhibition on Hanok: As people are becoming more interested in eco-friendly houses and tradition, the interest in the Korean traditional house Hanok is on the rise. Various Hanok models have been introduced that maintain the sprit and beauty of Hanok, but incorporate the convenience of modern life. The construction cost now has become more affordable with the introduction of the modular method. In the sense, Kyunghyang Housing Fair will help spread the Hanok home even more.

Special Exhibition on Energy-efficient Windows & Doors: Energy loss through windows and doors may reach up to 45% of total building heat loss. High energy-efficient windows and doors can save energy costs up to 20% annually. The energy efficiency rating system of windows and doors and recent trend in global green growth is leading to demand for energy efficient and high-quality products.
