Korea's Foods Headed for the Cologne Food Fair to Expand Presence in the Global Market

Anuga 2011 will be held in Cologne, Germany from October 8 to 12, 2011. The biannual fair for food & beverages has attracted a host of suppliers and buyers from around the world. In a bid to further promote Korea¡¯s food products and explore new overseas markets, the Korea Agro-Fisheries Trade Corporation has organized a Korean pavilion, where dozens of local food companies, including the big players in Korea¡¯s food industry such as Daesang FNF, Hite-Jinro Group and Sempio as well as small-sized suppliers will show off their flagship products.

The items in display vary from packed kimchi, processed ginseng, traditional teas, black garlic products and agricultural products to diverse processed foods. Anuga 2011 will give those participating companies a valuable opportunity to assess their foreign rivals and enhance their own international competitiveness.

The following companies are some of the Korean participants in the German fair.

Aloe Drinks

The aloe drinks from Korea Yakult features refreshing taste of aloe vera crushed inside the mouth, along with various health-promoting benefits such as antiaging natural whitening, moisturizing factors, as well as abundant amino acids. The aloe drinks helps digestion and has anti-inflammatory effects.

Alcoholic Beverage

Hite-Jinro Group is a leading alcoholic beverage maker in Korea. The history of Hite-Jinro Group represents the history of Korean alcoholic beverages. Jinro, the oldest soju company in Korea, was established in 1924 and Hite was established in 1933 as the first beer company in Korea. HITE, the leader in the domestic beer market and Jinro, the No.1 soju company in Korea merged in 2005.

Black Garlic Product

Uiseong Black Garlic Farming Association, founded in 2007 is a manufacturer of black garlic products, which comes in various forms - bulbs, pills, juice, extract, powder, salt and jellies. These garlic products can be eaten as a health supplementary food or be added as a culinary ingredient.

Natural Tea Powder & Powder Porridge

Dooridoori Co., Ltd. provides finished foods such as sunsik (natural food), grain flours, natural seasonings, snacks, cereal flakes and processed grain as well as raw materials such as dried/wt flour for making cookies and breads and seasoning compounds.

Health Food

Since its establishment in 1984, Chunho Food has manufactured about 170 kinds of health foods that don¡¯t contain any additives or artificial materials. The main export items include garlic series - Garlic Extract100 Premium, Black Garlic Extract 100 Original, and Black Garlic and Vinegar, blueberry extract, pomegranate juice and Sansuyoo1000 Premium.

Bamboo Tea

Bambusland provides bamboo tea, made from bamboo leaves, and also mask packs and foot patches using bamboo extract. Bambusland acquired the European organic certificate as the first company in Korea and supplies bamboo tea to Europe distributors, drugstores and pharmacies.

Packed Kimchi

Korea¡¯s leading food maker, Daesang FNF manufactures and exports various packed kimchi under its own ¡°Chongga¡± brand, which is made with fresh and safe raw materials. Only high-quality raw materials are selected and processed in a clean environment that conforms to HACCP while all of its products are kept fresh through cold chain system from ordering to delivery.

Soy Sauce

Sempio is Korea¡¯s oldest and most renowned commercial brand of soy sauce, with more than 50% share of Korean market. In proportion to its 60 years of history, Sempio has a long list of achievements as well.

Organic Green Teas

Established in 1992, Nokchawon is one of the major tea manufacturers and distributors in Korea. The company enjoys No.1 brand power in organic tea and No.2 in herbal tea in Korea, showing that Nokchawon organic teas are highly rated by Korean customers. Based on such a strong consumer base in the domestic market, the company has succeeded in making inroads into global markets, exporting the organic tea goods to over 20 countries.
