Korea's Food Products Aim To Go Global

As attentions has been recently being drawn to Korean food and cultural products, some typical Korean foods such as kimchi, bulgogi and bibimbap have gained popularity among foreigners because of their taste or well-known health benefits.

Cashing in on the keen interests in the Korean cuisine and cultural items overseas, Korea¡¯s food companies are actively seducing the appetites of overseas consumers by launching Korean food products, including instant noodles, snacks and beverages as well as the well-known Korean cuisine. And some of them are making a boom in overseas markets, such as the U.S.A, China, Japan and Russia.

The followings are those companies are taking aggressive moves to target global consumers by putting much more focus on high quality, health and convenience as well as adding international flavor with the traditional Korean food products.

For instance, Korean red ginseng products from Korea Ginseng Corp. make reputation among overseas consumers due to its reliable quality. Also, makers of liquid fruit tea, fruit spread tea and seaweed lavers enjoy good feedback.
What¡¯s more, some company attempts to re-invent one of well-known Korean cuisines, kimchi into dried kimchi so as to better meet the taste of overseas consumers.

Dietary Supplements

Launched by Biokorea Co., Ltd., Health Khan¢ç is a dietary supplement that improves liver function by using traditional Korean herbal extracts. The company has spent years of research & development endeavors on medicinal herbs that have been used for centuries in the field of oriental medicine in Korea to enhance the function of the liver and treat infections and inflammation in the body.

Aged Black Garlic

Doul Agricultural Cooperative was established in 1996 to help local farmers to focus on high-value-added agricultural products by using differentiated brand names, advanced distribution channels and the advanced quality control management. The cooperative has strived to increase the income of farm households and the organization¡¯s profits at the same time by being equipped with such facilities as a food production examination room on a 7, 800 pyeong (3§©) lot, expo and PR sales shop, cold chain system and curing facilities, screening truck with peeling garlic production system, kiwifruit selector, sweet potato cleaner, and so forth.

Vegetable Beverages

Since its establishment in 1991, Gaya Farm has been dedicated to providing healthful beverages. It has pioneered fresh vegetable beverages by introducing carrot, tomato and aloe juice in the Korean market, which used to be dominated by soda drinks.

Seaweed Laver

Kwang Chun Solmoi Food is a producer of the seasoned & roasted seaweed laver made under strict quality control. It thoroughly follows global regulations such as the international HACCP, ISO22000 and FDA regulation. The strictly clean production system guarantees top quality and safety.

Dried Fruit Chips

Dried kimchi

O'JEJU is a Jeju-based company that manufactures dried ago-fishery products using fresh ingredients grown on Jeju Island, which is one of Korea¡¯s top tourist destinations due to its clean and wonderful natural environment.

Fruit Jams, Teas and Syrup

Bokumjari Co. has been producing fruit jams since the early 1980s when fruit jams were rare and unfamiliar to Korean people. Currently, Bokumjari, a fast-growing jam manufacturer in the nation has won strong trust among Korean consumers as its fruit jams are highly appreciated for their taste and quality. Bokumjari now produces a variety of fruit jams such as strawberry, grape, apple, plum, peach, orange, apricot and marmalade as well as fruit teas, including citron, omija berries, raspberry, quince, jujube, ginger, ginseng and gamro.

Korean Traditional Tea

Kookje Food Co. is one of the major Korean traditional tea makers, founded in 1963. Since the company first introduced liquid fruit tea or fruit spread tea to Korean market in 1970, it has produced 40 different kinds of teas., including chief export items such as citron tea, jujube tea, and ginger tea by combining Korea¡¯s traditionally used tea recipe and its self-developed production methods.

Ginseng

Korea Ginseng Corp. uses only 6-year-old ginseng only from contracted fields in Korea to manufacture red ginseng products sold under the trademark of CheongKwanJang and exports to over 40 countries. CheongKwanJang red ginseng products preserve the time-honored and well-organized manufacturing practices passed down for over 110 years under a strict quality-control system.
