South Korea's Cutting Edge Auto Parts to Attract Keen Attention from Global Clients

South Korea’s automotive parts and related product suppliers are showing positive business growth, riding on the wave of continued overall growth of global auto parts demand. For the upcoming European Automotive Components Expo 2011 in Germany, South Korea’s numerous automotive parts makers will be expected to showcase their globally competitive auto parts and related products.
In an effort to help the nation’s auto parts makers to showcase more effectively their various kinds of prominent products and further explore the East European market, the Korea Trade Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA) along with AIN Global (Automotive Industry Globalization Foundation) is effectively arranging the South Korea Pavilion with related support measures, showcasing the products of more than 30 promising South Korean auto parts makers, which will display their pricecompetitive automotive items featuring internationally recognized quality.
South Korea’s major auto part makers are pushing ahead with their several routes of growth-oriented strategies for expanding overseas businesses.
Hyundai Mobis, the largest auto parts maker in the nation, has unveiled its plan to increase its supply volume to the socalled ‘Big 3’ automakers in the U.S.A by up to 40 percent by 2015. Another of the nation’s leading auto parts makers, Mando Corp. has recently succeeded in securing an order to supply caliper brake systems worth US$193 million to German company Volkswagen AG. Hyundai Wia, a major auto parts and machine tool provider, also is reportedly planning to build three more plants in China by the end of the year, enhancing its China strategy. According to the Korea Automobile Manufacturers Association (KAMA), vehicle production in Feb. this year gained 6.4 percent year-on-year to 297,350 units, with the help of continued high growth of exports. Regardless of the burden of rising oil prices, domestic sales in the period of 2011 increased by 1.1 percent to 107,695 units, which is attributable to the new model release effect of Kia’s Morning (TA) and Hyundai’s Grandeur (HG). Despite the sudden crisis in the Middle East and Africa, exports for this period saw a 15.2 percent jump to 199,048 units, riding on the overall growth of global auto demand, improved quality and reliability of Korean cars and the increased introduction of export-oriented models.
