Seoul Motor Show to Showcase the Latest Trends in the Global Auto Market and New Auto Technology
The upcoming 8th Seoul Motor Show, which is a biennial auto show where domestic and foreign auto makers
showcase their latest models that are either in production or at the R&D stage as well as new technologies for
future models and is Korea's only motor show that has won the OICA ( Organisation Internationale des Constr
ucteurs d¡¯Automobiles) accreditation.
The Seoul Motor Show, which was designated by the Ministry of Knowledge and Economy as one of the top
global exhibitions, has evolved into a major and renowned exhibition held in Korea, is maintaining its good
momentum oward joining the ranks of other top international motor shows such as the Frankfurt Motor Show,
the Paris Motor Show, the Detroit Motor Show and the Tokyo Motor Show.
The highly anticipated Show, which is slated for March 31-April 10 at KINTEX (Korea International Exhibition
Center),Goyang, Gyeonggi-do, will also be featuring various types of historic vehicles in the World Automotiv
e History Hall. Under the theme of ¡°Evolution, Green Revolution on Wheels,¡± passenger cars, commercial veh
icles, two-wheeled vehicles, bicycles, auto parts and other related devices will be on display at the exhibition.
The Motor Show will offer a valuable opportunity for visitors to get a panoramic overview of the ongoing trends
in the global auto market and new auto technologies.
The 8th Seoul Motor Show will be the biggest motor show ever held in Korea, with the participation of 137 com
panies (including auto makers and parts suppliers) from a total of eight countries with an expected turnout of
one million visitors.
In line with the increasing emphasis on low-carbon and green growth around the world, a wide array of prom
ising vehicles such as small cars, hybrid vehicles, fuel cell vehicles (FCVs) and electric vehicles (Evs), all of
which feature eco-friendliness, high-efficiency and energy-saving, etc., will be displayed to boost public
interest in the ¡®green vehicle¡¯ trend.
A variety of peripheral programs are lined up, including the Telematics International Seminar, the Best Car made
by CollegeStudents program, an Automotive Design Competition for College Students, the Most Popular Car
Award, UCC ontests, Car Designing Class and Test-driving for Eco-friendly Cars (a new addition to the Seoul
Motor Show¡¯s peripheral programs), etc.
There will be a special forum of The International Auto Industry CEO Forum where major global CEOs will be
expected to attend and they will learn about their management philosophy and changes in the global auto
market and to foresee where the global auto industry is headed. Thus, the International Auto Industry CEO
Forum is expected to draw a great deal of attention from both home and abroad.
Armed with its accumulated know-how and ample experience, the organizing committee of the Seoul Motor
Show 2011 has been actively developing multi-faceted programs to attract more global auto makers, visitors
and buyers, supporting the Seoul Motor Show to become one of the world¡¯s top-five international motor sho
ws in the future, in terms of both operational capabilities and exhibition size. According to the results of a
survey it carried out to ascertain the exact economic benefits generated from the last Seoul Motor Show 2009,
the last Motor Show¡¯s economic effect turned out to be tantamount to KRW 525 billion, of which KRW 210
billion was created in auto production and KRW 315 billion in upstream and downstream industries.
Furthermore, the added value generated by Seoul Motor Show 2009 was estimated at KRW 393.7 billion.
The next edition of the Show in 2013 will be held after completion of the construction of the second exhibition
hall of KINTEX with twice the current floor size.

The system¡¯s heater unit increases the temperature of the vehicle interior with hightemperature water heated by the engine, removes frost from windows, and maintains optimal temperature while being jointly operated with the air-conditioner. It is installed in the center of a car, within the instrument panel, and its exterior surface is made of plastic materials.
