Promising Korean companies prepare to join June's CommunicAsia2010 and BroadcastAsia2010 to broaden their market share.

One of the world¡¯s biggest events in the field of IT, CommunicAsia2010 is scheduled to be held at Expo, Hall 3-6 in Singapore from June 15 through 18, this year.
Since 1979, the exhibition has been a major ICT event platform in Asia. This year also the event is expected to be an ideal marketplace for those companies seeking ideal business partners — especially in bringing together buyers and sellers to find the best ways on how to allocate their investment resources and to converge the latest ICT-related technologies. CommunicAsia2010 highlights the newest technology innovations in the ICT industry in the context of today¡¯s digital convergence landscape. Diverse innovative products in quality and design will be staged, ranging from the latest technologies in applications and solutions, to hardware. The show has already proven to be the highest level of platform for product launches and announcements.
This is the event that is set to address the complete convergence of technology, and discuss the development needs and opportunities in this dynamic industry. Under the one-roof of Asia¡¯s most established ICT platform, all participants currently have equal opportunities to better enjoy and experience the convergence of technology at work.
CommuniAsia2010 caters to the full spectrum of convergent technologies and applications from industry leaders greatly wanting to enhance enterprises¡¯ mobility and users¡¯ lifestyle.
The main event, together with BroadcastAsia2010, is expected to span at least 58,000 square meters of exhibition space.
Visitors to the shows this year will be able to witness the latest technology innovations and its applications, which are scheduled to exhibited and demonstrated by approximately 2,000 multi-national corporations and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Furthermore, 34 international group pavilions will be featured, reflecting the push by governments and industry bodies to expand their footprint into Asia.
First-time participants, including a group from Bangladesh and another led by India¡¯s Telecom Equipment and Services Export Promotion Council (TEPC), are preparing well for their initial stage.
Thanks to Korea¡¯s leading position in the global Internet industry, Asia is currently spearheading the growth of broadband worldwide over the past few years. According to the technology analyst firm Gartner, Korea¡¯s broadband penetration will reach 93 percent in 2013.
Whether it is with market leaders introducing the latest products or smaller enterprises showcasing their innovative solutions, the global ICT, media and broadcasting communities, all of which are reportedly scheduled to participate in the amazing upcoming big event, are expected to strive to set up a cooperative relationship with Korean globally competitive companies over the area.
In 2009, 109 Korean companies and more than 1,300 Korean professionals took part in the exhibition, which attracted over 54,000 trade attendees from all over the globe. This year, the event will once again see a strong presence from Korea with the participation of Samsung Electronics and individual players like ACETEL, Ilsintech, Intellian Technologies, KNET, KNS and PhilTech. The Korean group pavilion, led by KOTRA, SBA and new entrant GITCT, will form one of the largest group contingents at the exhibition space.
The Korea Digital Convergence Association (KODICA) will return for its eighth participation in BroadcastAsia2010. The KODICA pavilion will feature industry leaders specializing in the field of IPTV, Mobile TV, character generators, broadcasting equipment, solutions and related systems. Returning exhibitors including CIS Technology, DARIM Vision,
KAONMEDIA and OpenTech, while new entrants include Compix, Fortis and BS MediaSoft.
The unique co-holding of CommunicAsia2010 and BroadcastAsia2010 presents the only platform of its kind that aptly addresses the convergence of telecommunications and broadcasting and brings together business leaders, government officials and trade professionals to network, discuss critical industry issues and explore opportunities for growth.
Mobile applications and other emerging technologies are driving traditional Korean industry players to rethink their business models and explore cross-industry collaborations to stay relevant in this dynamic environment.
In tandem with current market trends, this year¡¯s CommunicAsia, with support of the Wireless Industry Partnership (WIP), will have a new Developer Pavilion featuring the latest mobile developers, independent software vendors and WIPJam sessions- nteractive discussions that open up the mobile ecosystem and connect developers with industry experts and decision makers. Further new highlights to be added to the CommunicAsia2010 exhibition space are other new technology clusters- TTx, Mobile Entertainment and Sustainable ICT, etc.—to address new growth opportunities in Asia.
In addition, at the exhibition, new conference sessions such as Mobile Value-Added Services (VAS), Cloud Computing, arketing through Social Networking and Green IT will be introduced to drive active discussions on topics and issues relevant to industry players.
A new forum has been created to address the topic of convergence. Titled ¡°New Communications & Broadcast World,¡± this session is designed to spearhead interactive, intellectual dialogue on the challenges, business models and revenue opportunities arising from the converging worlds of telecommunications and broadcasting.
EnterpriseIT2010, will once again be held in conjunction with CommunicAsia2010 to address the convergence of technology and showcase innovative enterprise solutions that meet the evolving needs of businesses. Exhibitors from this segment offer a breadth of solution from network security to managed services to telepresence, and include companies like AEP Networks, Extreme Networks, Nete2 Asia, NComputing, Webvisions, QNO Technology, OPUS IT, Sai Infosystem and TANDBERG.
With the race to conduct 3D broadcasting trials and launches heating up this year, broadcasters and production companies can look forward to the latest 3D broadcasting technologies, equipment and applications at BroadcastAsia. The spotlight will be on various Acquisition process and Streaming media platform. Sports, movies and gaming are genres that the industry expects will become popular in the living room and the FIFA World Cup, coming up in June, will surely act as the catalyst to dramatically increase the pace of content development. With Asia being home to top TV and audio electronics manufacturers, the region is emerging as a leader in 3D. Exhibitors with prominent 3D features include ARRI, ASSIMILATE(3D production), Chyron,
CineEquipment, Da Vinci Resolve, Panasonic, Ross Video, Snell, Sony, The Media Village, Vizrt, Wasp3D and XD Productions.
With emerging markets in Asia seeing an increase in utilization of digital signage displays particularly in retail spaces, tourist attractions, classrooms and boardrooms,
Digital Signage exhibitors will address the increasing demand for the latest technologies such as touch screens and professional display applications in the Asia- Pacific region.
New at the BroadcastAsia International Conference is the Creative Content Production Conference (CCT). The industry is seeing vast opportunities in creation and production of content due to the massive digital transformation. The conference will be expected to explore the latest trends and cost-efficient ways to create and produce content to address digital transformation and the widening matrix of delivery fronts and consumer technologies. The four-day conference will engage delegates in discussions on various topics to address the needs of the broadcasting and media landscape today.
The conference speaker Mr. Tony Chow, managing director of Fence Productions said, ¡°The market has seen the proliferation of multiple platforms and online content distribution. Huge opportunities for media content producers are emerging as we see gradual clarity in the business and exploitation models. Asian players are wellpositioned to flourish in this growing market and I believe firmly that channel distribution will be the next big thing.¡±
