Applied to Back Light Units, a lighting source and critical component of
LCD panels, Mirae Nano Tech Inc.¡¯s UTE (Utility Enhancement) film
integrates prism sheets (brightness enhancement film) and diffuser sheets
into one, meeting the industry trend of slimness and low power consumption
in LCD panels. Mirae Nano Tech¡¯s UTE film is said to be 30% lower in terms
of price and has better anti-scratch properties and visibility than conventional
LCD BLU films that use multiple prism sheets and diffuser sheets separated
in realizing brightness and viewing angle. The company¡¯s UTE film is
supplied to such global display panel makers as Korea¡¯s Samsung Electronics
and LG Display, Japan¡¯s Sharp, Taiwan¡¯s AU Optronics, and China¡¯s BOE
and IVO, taking a lion¡¯s share of the global market from the 4th quarter of 2008 by surpassing 3M. Mirae Nano
Tech Inc. is a specialized optical film manufacturer in Korea and developed prism sheets for the first time in
Korea, which had been supplied only by 3M until then. By applying unique room temperature imprint monolithography
and soft-mold processing, the company has significantly reduced manufacturing costs, as well as
increased the yield ratio of prism film, against rival products produced under high temperature.
