I am an operations manager for a speech impairment research center. Our various activities revolve around research of speech- and communication-related disorders as well as development for therapeutic and technological solutions to address the numerous medical, social and professional aspects of speech impairment and disabilities. Naturally, we have a network of experts around the world involved with these studies and projects, like any other academic or professional organization. A Video Relay Service (VRS), also sometimes known as a Video Interpreting Service, is a video telecommunication service that allows deaf, as well as hearing- and speech-impaired individuals, to communicate over video telephones and similar technologies with hearing people in real-time, via a sign-language interpreter. There have been significant improvements in video call quality of service due to better technology as well as the availability of high speed Internet and later 3G networks.
