Being rich in fiber and protein, edible seaweeds or marine algae are one of the most used food items in many coastal cuisines. They are particularly popular and have a long history in Korea, Japan, and China. Especially in Korea, dried seaweeds are quite popular. People enjoy eating them mostly dried red alga in different soups or wrappings like Japan¡¯s sushi or Korea¡¯s Gimbap. Its current status as a staple food somewhat has been possible due to Nam Kwang Food¡¯s contribution or nationwide distribution. Started 1981, Nam Kwang Food has been a sea food provider for seaweed and sea mustard. The company not only has been working on processing them but also adding values such as improving taste and food quality. The seaweed¡¯s protein and vitamin seem to have been upgraded. Certainly, Nam Kwang Food¡¯s manufacturing facilities for the best quality and its efforts to satisfy customers have been successful. Currently, its seaweed products are widely distributed through various channels such as wholesalers, the Korean Army, numerous companies and schools. Also, Nam Kwang Food actively exports its products to a few Asian countries such as China, Japan, Taiwan, Guam, etc.
The collection of Nam Kwang Food¡¯s seaweed products is extensively varied. There are Seaweed baked on stone, Seaweed for lunch box, Conventional Seaweed, Dried Seaweed, Folded Seaweed, Poja Seaweed baked on stone, Sea Tangle, etc. For Sea Tangle, both 100g and 300g sea tangle products are carefully selected from Korea¡¯s Ki-San, a region where the sea tangle is produced. Dried Seaweed has each 40g, 60g, 130g, and 150g. And Conventional Seaweed is baked with the mixture of several different oils.
