The New Excellent Product (NEP) certification is a program designed to evaluate newly developed products using innovative technology and certifies the nation¡¯s top products in order to encourage technology development and help companies commercialize and market high-quality techno-centric products.

As Korea entered the 1970s, the nation began to invest heavily in heavy and chemical industries in order to boost its national industrial structure.

This effort paid off in the 1980s with remarkable growth in the machinery, automobile, shipbuilding, electronics, steel and petrochemical industries.

While this rapid growth greatly expanded the external economic scale of the nation, it also led to a rise in technology imports from industrialized nations around the world. As a result, a large part of the foreign exchange painstakingly earned through exports flowed out as royalty payments.

In order to alleviate this chronic pressure on the national trade balance and achieve technological independence, the government began exploring ways to localize capital goods including machines, parts and materials.

As a part of these efforts, the government discovered a new way of certifying new technology in order to assuage lingering distrust of Korean products and technologies.

The Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Energy (today¡¯s Ministry of Knowledge Economy) spearheaded this program for certifying new products and technologies, followed by separate programs by the Ministry of Science and Technology, Ministry of Information-Communication, Ministry of Construction and Transportation, and the Ministry of Environment.

Since its humble beginnings in 1998 by producing car parts for global car makers, Hyundai & KIA Motors, JM Motors has continuously been able to develop and invest its line more than it could imagine.

Wistco¡¯s flagship coating system is highly recognized in South Korea ensuring such basic globally certified strength as very long term of low maintenance cost with superior corrosion protection. Wistco¡¯s dual FBE Coating Plant is a production line designed and applied to manufacture anticorrosive coating to the steel pipes which are used for transporting oil, gas, water, etc.

Busan-based Korea Cast Iron Pipe Ind., which established in 1953, has developed and commercialized ductile cast iron pipes for the first time in Korea and has been consistently applied them to the nation¡¯s water and sewage facility, thereby contributing to the development of the industry over the past six decades.

Established in 1999 as a specialized manufacturer of indoor lighting fluorescent fixtures, LED1 has now become one of the most advanced lighting makers in Korea through adding a next-generation light source of LED lighting fixtures.

Enesg has early obtained a technology that ensures stable production of highest quality hydraulic actuators for driving valves. For preemptively preventing of the possibility of damage occurrence of the operational contact part, the pressure compensational sealing technology is applied.

Flexible Delineator Post from the Shindo Industry is installed to support road surface signs where the possibility of traffic accidents is high, and special attention from drivers is required. The delineator post spatially divides traffic flow in the forward and reverse directions, and catches drivers¡¯ attention to warn of dangerous areas.
