Sung Shin RST has since its establishment in 1990 been professionally involved in manufacturing and exporting of its flagship bogie assemblies of locomotives as well as completed vehicles, leading the technological trends and market of South Korea.
Park, Gye-chul, the President of Sung Shin RST, said ¡°We currently supply the power trains of railway trains, railway repairing equipment, and freight trains to our clients both domestically and abroad. We recently broadened our business sector into plant constructing work, while also acquiring ASME STAMP S&U as part of our efforts to diversify our business portfolios.¡±
The ISO 9001-certified specialist, which is located approximately 30km away from the nation¡¯s largest machinery complex, has so far effectively managed and enjoyed the challenge of product-quality testing conducted by the nation¡¯s National Railroad Administration, while developing a bogie assembly for high-speed locomotives and trailers for sand works and regularly releasing full ranges of power train systems for railway vehicles, diesel hydraulic locomotives, and freight wagons.
As a response to the mechanization of railway maintenance, the company has developed sand and gravel suction dredges for the first time in South Korea. And its new model construction train consists of railway trains equipped with various cameras, sensors and databases.
Currently, the passenger coaches are drawing strong attention from the global market. With an overall length (car body- shell) of 22.8m, it has an operating speed of 120Km/h. It weighs nearly 40 tons and measures 15.885m (between truck pivot centers) in length and 2.825m in width and 3.815m in car body height. Employing the Micom control method, it boasts cooling capacity of 40,000Kcal/h.
He went on to say: ¡°We took advantage of the favorable business environment among the promising global markets, including China, proving that our high-techapplied power train systems including its most important flagship items carriages and locomotives are globally competitive. We still place the most emphasis on such countries as Saudi Arabia, Congo, Gabon, Taiwan, Malaysia, Morocco, and France, while also adding further export destinations to the list including Cameroon, Sri
Lanka, Thailand, the UAE, the United States, Germany, and Namibia.¡±
When asked about any specific plans for effectively coping with increasingly toughing in and out of the nation market, the president confidently responded, ¡°We plan to further make a bid to broaden our global presence following our recent aggressive business drives by continuously releasing technology-integrated, highefficient, and value-added passenger coaches and locomotives.¡±
