Healthy Lifestyle Trends Lead to Growing Popularity of Korea's Sports & Leisure Show

SPOEX 2010
The types of sports and leisure activities enjoyed by Koreans have become tremendously diverse, from fitness and marathon, to extreme and outdoor sports due to improved living standards and keen attention to leading healthier lifestyles. Currently, 109 categories of offline registered sports and leisure clubs are registered in Korea. In addition, there are estimated to be about 20,000 online registered sports and leisure clubs. The total numbers of sports clubs and members are constantly increasing up to about 77,000 as the sports and leisure industry in Korea is growing rapidly.
Reflecting the growth of related industries in Korea, an increasing number of exhibitors and visitors has attended SPOEX, the biggest sports and leisure industry show held in Korea.
For instance, the scale of the show has risen quickly from 367 booths at the first edition in 2002 to 820 booths in 2010.
This year, 350 exhibitors from at home and abroad are going to be showcasing their newest sports and leisure products in SPOEX 2010, coming up March 11 through 14 at COEX in Seoul.
Jointly organized by the Korea International Trade Association (KITA) and the Seoul Olympic Sports Promotion Foundation (SOSFO), the show will feature a diversity of newest sports- and leisure-related items, providing buyers and visitors a good opportunity to check and predict the latest developments and trends of the industry.
The exhibit items include fitness & health, water sports, outdoor sports, sportswear & footwear, extreme sports, team & indoor sports, sports services and facilities and eco-friendly sporting goods.
During the show period, there will be a number of special programs, including a forum on sports industry development and a climbing festival.
Organizers are predicting that the show will draw more than 30,000 visitors.
The show was certified by UFI (Union of International Fairs) in 2005.
